5 Relaxing Swimming Holes Near Sedona Arizona
Sedona has a something for pretty much everyone! It's a great place to vacation if you like incredible hikes, beautiful views, and hot summers. What's the best way to cool off? Check out these outdoor swimming holes near Sedona.
Slide Rock State Park has probably one of the most popular swimming holes in Sedona. It's a popular attraction among tourists and locals alike. The state park features hiking, gorgeous views, and of course a beautiful swimming spot. The state park has a paid parking area that can sometimes fill up quickly on a hot summer day. It's advised you show up early. Parking is $10 per vehicle.
This one is a bit of a drive from Sedona, but more relaxed than Slide Rock. Bull Pen is a wonderful swimming hole located 15 miles east of Camp Verde along West Clear Creek. Be advised though, there is some hiking involved. In order to get to the creek, you'll need to hike approximately 1 mile. There are shallow and sandy parts of the creek as well as much deeper areas. Bull Pen is a relaxed, gentle creek that's not too much of a challenge to swim in.
Red Rock Crossing
Red Rock Crossing probably has some of the best views of all the swimming holes on this list. It features an amazing vuew of Cathedral Rock, pictured above. It is not as frequently visited by tourists as Slide Rock but can still feel a little bit crowded on a hot day. There is paid parking near a picnic area, $10 cash only per vehicle.
Grasshopper point is less popular than Slide Rock in part because it has a lower visitor capacity. Parking tends to fill up quickly, so it's advised you get to this swimming hole earlier in the day. There's a 120 yard walk to the cliff jumping area, though it can be a bit of a difficult trek. Be sure to bring good hiking shoes. Once you've reached the swimming hole, you'll be able to take a dip in Oak Creek and relax in the shade.
Wet Beaver Creek
Wet Beaver Creek is a favorite spot for the hottest of days. Of all the Sedona swimming holes on this list, this creek probably has the coldest water. The trail that takes you to "The Crack," a popular swimming spot, is more than 4 miles long but pretty relaxed overall.
