Since April of 2015, tentree has been planting trees across Haiti. As of this writing, 667,870 trees have been planted around the island nation. The seasonal changes determine the kind of work we do in Haiti. While the tree planting doesn't last year round, there's always something to do. Now that the rainy season in Haiti has started, t's time to get planting.
One of the biggest crises facing the world today is deforestation. As the forests go, in excess of 100 different, insect, animal and plant species disappear every day as well. If deforestation continues at the rate it is today, the rain forests of the world will begone within 100 years!
We like trees (as if you couldn't tell.) We all recognize them as vital to the health of our cities and our planet as well. But there are some pretty uncommon reasons to love a tree. Here's eight:
Two unlikely environmental heroes have been found in China! Jia Wenqi, a 53 year old armless man, and Jia Haixia, a 53 year old blind man, have planted over 10,000 trees in the last 10 years, both in their village and the surrounding area.
Planting that many trees in 10 years is a feat in and of itself. The fact that these two disabled men have accomplished this amazing undertaking is truly incredible!
Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, wants to break a record...and it's not the world's largest sandwich.
The record they want to break is an environmentalist's dream. The residents of Uttar Pradesh want to plant the most trees in one day.
We are honored to announce that, with your help, tentree has planted its 10 millionth tree. This is an exciting milestone because we know it's just a drop in the bucket of what we can do together.
At tentree, we're all about planting trees, but your impact goes beyond that. Our trees are able to revitalize local economies by providing sustainable wood as well as steady employment where we do our work.
