The Facts

GLOBAL WARMING HAS MADE WILDFIRES MORE COMMON

Climate change has caused record-breaking heat waves worldwide. As summers get hotter, the dry weather creates prime conditions for fires, helping them spread quickly and making them harder to put out.

SEASONS BURN LONGER THAN EVER BEFORE

Wildfire seasons throughout Canada, and the USA are starting earlier and burning later into the year. Fire seasons now can last 75 days longer than they did 40 years ago. This gives fires more time to cause damage to communities and disrupt environments.

MORE DAMAGE LEADS TO MORE COST

Currently, more spending is going towards fighting wildfires. This leaves limited resources for reforestation projects, and the restoration of devastated communities.

The Plan

goal: plant 275,000 trees

By planting 275,000 trees, we will help restore eroded soil, rejuvenate ecosystems and habitats, and help rebuild communities.

250,000 trees will be planted in Elephant Hill,BC

Elephant Hill has lost over 192,000 hectares of land due to wildfires. The trees planted will help sequester carbon from the atmosphere, and help purify the air.

25,000 trees will be planted in Plumas National Forest california

Reforestation in these affected areas will help restore soil from erosion and burn scars. Trees planted actively reduce the effects of erosion caused by water and wind.
